Is there..... Instant messenger software for network

Hi all,

Some friends and i want know if there is any instant messenger software that can be installed on macs and PCs, like MSN, just it can be used only on the network.

Any help would be much appreciated.

It depends on the network, there is some software for pcs that i've used but most networks block the ports that the messages are sent across specially in school networks..

Lan talk is good, i just installed it, pretty easy, thanks, i might give the other one another go.
