Is there such a thing as a PCI-E to AGP converter???

OK I see PCI-E GPU's are very inexpensive compared to AGP versions but I don't have money right now to make a whole complete other build and no I can't just buy a new motherboard. Does anyone know if there is such a thing as a PCI-E to AGP converter???

That one is going the wrong way. I'd suggest waiting until you can afford a new board unless you are really in need of new video card. In that case I'd suggest looking for a geforce 7600.

Not like you want. If there is one, it'd have to be for low-profile cards, only. I can't see how anything larger would work considering the converter would throw the card's height off.

Just for the heck of it, I took that image from the posted converter and photoshoped an image of a low profile card I got from Newegg onto it. It fits perfectly with the top most card. I'm sure you could use other sized cards, but it wouldn't fit without some case mods...

There is one for AGP to fit in a PCI-E slot (8x can go to 16x)
It would be impossible to go from PCI-E to AGP (8 lanes of the 16X would have nowhere to go)

No, it would work. You just flip the HSI chip around. That is how they make AGP cards with new GPUs like the 7600GS (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814127219) See the angled heatsink below the circular one? That is on the HSI chip that converts PCIe to AGP and vice versa
