Is there such a thing as an LCD monitor with good resolution?

I have a pair for 21" CRTs. They are hard to find now, but when I look at LCDs they are the minimum in resolutions. I currently use 1920x1440. Even on a 23" LCD monitor I could only find 1366x....whatever. When I researched this about a year ago it was about 7000.00 for an LCD monitor and special video card for it. The CRT monitors I use were only about 500.00 each new, so what am I missing?

500.00 for a 21" monitor @ 1920x1440 vs same size LCD with resolution about half that, or spending 14 times that for a LCD monitor with equivalent resolution.

What do other do that work on website and picture stuff?.....use crappy monitors now?

Hopefully I someone has some good news for me :D thanks for your time and any helpful responses.
 
An LCD monitor with 1920x1200=24" LCD, and those are roughly 300-400 dollars(Widescreen LCD's) so its not really too much for one. I personally do not like a resolution that high, and even my 1680x1050 resolution on my current lcd monitor is pushing it.
