Is this a decent motherboard?

well I wouldnt get it, Try the gigabyte DS3 or Asus p5n-e sli for a cheap awesome preforming mobo.

also if your looking for intense graphics the 8600gts wouldnt be your best bet. a 7900gs is good enough but if you want a DX10 card i would get a 8800 gts 320mb at least

If I were you I wouldn't buy that one. My main reason why I'm against it is because you want to do some "good gaming" and that only has no sli support, and with some of the games on the horizon, you are gonna want that extra oomph in my opinion. I'm not too familiar about the chipset, but the EVGA 680i is a great motherboard,

Its more expensive but will be alot better for you, just my opinion though.
