I got my laptop with MacAfee pre-installed and instantly deleted it.
Through Penn State (my college) I was able to try Symantec 2011. It slowed my computer down immensely.
They also offered Spybot Search&Destroy. I did not like this one at all because it was very good at detecting the viruses but not at removing them, which in my opinion, is the only reason to get an AV. (What sick person goes to a doctor and is satisfied to hear that they are sick? They want the freaking cure!!!)
I tried MSE but my computer still ran slower than it should have been and it wasn't detecting many viruses.
I kept in on and added Malwarebytes to my system and that got almost all of the viruses MSE missed.
I kept it this way for a while but recently traded MSE for a free version of Avira. IT seemed okay but I think it was conlficting with my Comodo firewall at times. Today I just deleted it and now I have added Avast.
So my current programs are Malwarebytes, Avast, and I use a free Comodo firewall. Is this a good combo? Will it cover Avast catch what slips through Malwarebytes and vice versa? And will Comodo interfere with any of the operations these programs do?
