looks okay. I would suggest going with a 939 motherboard and CPU. Also does it have to be a Micro ATX motherboard? They don't leave much room for adding on later..

That's an OK system, but for $1000, you should really try and go for socket 939 mobo and CPU (like Vampiric Rouge said). I'm not going to change the basics (like case and monitor as they are really personal preference), but you haven't included a mouse (unless that came with the keyboard) or an operating system. Here is what I would suggest from Newegg:

CPU: AMD Athlon 64 3200+ Venice 1GHz FSB 512KB L2 Cache Socket 939 - $190
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819103535

Motherboard: MSI K8N Neo4-F ATX AMD Motherboard - $85.50
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813130491

RAM: OCZ Value Series 1GB (2 x 512MB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM Dual Channel Kit - $87.95
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820227039

Hard Drive: Maxtor DiamondMax 10 160GB 3.5" Serial ATA150 - $81.00
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822144182

DVD-RW: NEC Black IDE DVD Burner Model ND-3540A - $38.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16827152047

Graphics Card: MSI Geforce 6200TC NX6200TC - $51.00
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814127178

Floppy Disk Drive: SONY Black Internal Floppy Drive Model MPF920 Black - $11.00
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16821103116

Keyboard & Mouse: Logitech Cordless Internet Pro Desktop Black RF Wireless Keyboard - $32.00
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16823126168

Operating System: Microsoft Windows XP Professional With Service Pack 2 - $146.95
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16837102153

If you add what you suggested for case, monitor and keyboard:

Case: APEX PC-336 Black/Silver Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case - $34.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16811154054

Monitor: SONY SDM-S75AB Black 17" 12ms LCD Monitor - $295.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16824006089

The total comes to $1055.37 which is close to your budget, and personally, you will get more out of this system. The only thing I would change is the keyboard and mouse if you want a better overall experience.

The other thing is your PSU. Now your case comes with a 350W supply, but you may want to upgrade this. I think you might be able to get away without upgrading it, but I'm not sure

Hope that helps :)
