but, if you put in a new mobo, you might need to reinstall vista

It's not bad, just add some memory, like 2GB total, and you'll be set.

Yeah you know quite well what happens...

Just turn off the effects or use Basic, then it's not that hard to run with 512Mb of RAM. Personally, I would use nothing less than 1Gb.
