IS this a good desktop for the money?

Depending on how much power you actually need you could get one cheaper that still has more then enough to play games. I've found that the bigger named sites out there usually charge more only because their already established. I'd search around a little more before paying a grand on the first few things you see. Have you ever considered building your own or buying refurbished those can cut down cost?
 
It's not as bad as I've seen, but you'd still be better off building it yourself. But if you don't want to, it's not that bad of a rig.
