Is this a good gaming computer?

I recently ordered a computer for christmas and I am hoping that it will be able to run games smoothly. This is about a 1200 dollar computer i believe. (Dell.com)

Intel Core i7-930 processor(8MB L2 Cache, 2.80GHz)
Ati Radeon HD 5770 1024MB GDDR5
9GB DDR3 SDRAM at 1333MHz

And this computer is Windows 7 and the model is Studio XPS 9100.

2 Questions

1. Is this a good computer for gaming?

2. Is this processor quad core?

Thanks

Should be fine for gaming at 1680x1050, but at 1920x1080 it will fall short. You could have gotten better if you just built your own. (Which anybody on this forum will say. Well, more than likely.) You will want to upgrade the PSU if you get a better processor or video card. Provided the PSU isn't Proprietary.

Yes, that Processor is a Quad-Core with 8 threads.

The graphics card is definitely the bottleneck of the computer, and you probably wound up paying extra for things you don't need (For example, you won't be using 9Gb of ram for a long time.) My experience with Dell power supplies has been a sour one, but if you can upgrade it, do so and get a better graphics card. At that point you'll have a very respectable gaming computer.

^ Dell has actually been using Delta power supplies as of late, which are miles ahead of the old Bestec and Hipro crap they used to have.
