is this a good laptop?

this is an old school laptop that my friend said she would sell me for 110 bucks

but i have a couple of ?s

is this worth 110 bucks?
the only things that are wrong with it is 2 of the 4 usb dont work idk whats wrong with them and the battery is shot u have to leave it plugged in and there is a cut on the battery wire cable that u plug into the wall other than that its fine

it just has 1 gig of ram and a 75 gig hard drive

is it worth upgrading ram and hardrive?

i was thinking maybe 2 to 3 gigs of ram and a 250 to a 320 gig hardrive

can i play counter strike source on this computer with ease?

i tryed to put it on there but it seems that it kinda lags i figured it was just because it had a gig of ram and thats it cause it is kinda of slow naturally

i allready removed all the random stupid bullshit that was on the computer(crapware)

the programs i have on there is glarys utilities, avast free antivirus,ccleaner,malwarebytes,smart defrag and putting these on the laptop seemed to help

basiccly i just want to put a bigger hardrive in it and more ram but just dont know if its worth it so need yalls opinion

should i put a different kind of video card in it? if so what kind?

any advice is greatly welcomed! thank you

1: You have integrated graphics, so that's why it lags. The computer lacks the necessary graphical power to run the game smoothly.

2: No, it's not worth it. You should save your money and get something new with more graphical power if you are going to game with it.

3: You can't put a different video card in it because it is a laptop with integrated graphics.

Does the fact that a laptop has integrated graphics mean that it can't be replaced?

Yes. And even if you find a laptop with a dedicated card (Such as a Dell Latitude D800) it still cannot really be upgraded because different laptops are designed for different video cards. Laptops don't work like desktops where you can add any card you want [as long as it has free expansion slots].
 
what about basic computing and such is it a good laptop for this? is it worth 100 bucks?

basiclly i was ether gunna get my old desktop back and give me bro the laptp or keep this one

i would imagine my old desktop can have the guts cut out and replaced with the good stuff

how much would i be spending to for new guts?

It's a bit overpriced. I wouldn't pay more than $50 for it.

If your old desktop is an OEM machine (Gateway, Compaq, etc.) you're better off building/buying another machine because you really don't want to use those OEM cases.

As far as the prices of components, it depends how much you want to spend. You could spend $350 or as much as $2,000. Just remember though, you get what you pay for.
 
haha really just 50 bucks lol its understandable i never know how to price laptops or desktops

why dont u want to use the old oem cases?

haha well to be honest idk what it is lol my dad built it back in 2004 for my graduation present so its a no brander i guess i just figured using the case and fans and such would save me money

and ya i dont need the best of everything just somthing that will at lesat let me play games and wont be slow as shit and surf internet download movies and music and such
