does this ram have to be used with a core i5?

it's all for gaming and general use.
also is it true that older games wont run and windows 7? or on a 64 bit OS?

Motherboard is good. stick to Asus/Gigabyte/EVGA/MSI

The G.Skill RAM is better than the corsair kit, it has faster speed (1600mhz vs 1333mhz) with the same timings. 1333mhz at CAS9 timings is quite slow. You want 1600mhz CAS9 at worst with AMD systems.

For games you will want a quadcore. Look at Athlon II X4 640

if you say at worst... what memory would you recommend being budget conscious?
