since lith-ion batteries can only be charged for x amount of hours, when im using my laptop for hours, i was wondering if i should keep the charger in until it's full and then take it out, and then put it back in when its low battery and take it out again when it's full and repeat.

I used to have a laptop that did this, its not the battery its the bio's they read that the battery has stopped charging and then don't recognize the alt power source as anything more then a recharging tool. In answer to the question though you shouldn't wait till the battery is low to start recharging the battery or the combination of heat and the constant dramatic recharge will lower the life time of your battery over time. When your laptop is done recharging unplug and replug the wall charger back in to see if your laptop will recognize the wall charger as an alt power source. If not then charge your battery during use as it reaches half power try to every other week let the battery run down to about 5% to 1% once every other week. I can't tell you anymore without knowing how long you run your laptop continuously and if you use a dock or a simple power adapter.

When the battery is full, it won't be charged anymore. The battery will be left alone and all power from the AC adapter goes directly to the computer. As soon as AC drops, the battery kicks in. It's alright to leave your battery in and have your lappy plugged in all the time - I've had mine for almost an year, and the battery hasn't degraded much at all, it still hods most of the charge even though I have it plugged in all the time (as a matter of fact, that probably is why it holds charge so well... I hardly ever use the battery because I use my lappy as my desktop).
