Is this a good PSU for a new system?

heh

Definitely a good PSU. Fortron makes it and that by itself implies some level of quality. More than that however, it has 2 12V rails with 15Amps on each which should be sufficient for most modern systems....unless you are gonna get some crazy SLI graphics combo and stuff the PC with other power-hungry components.

Hey

That seems like a good choice as well. Chaintech is generally good. Wattage is not that important. More so, it's the rating of the rails. Just as an example, my 550W PSU has only 16Amps on the 12V rail and too much on the 5V (which is barely used). This seems like a good choice.... but could you list your system that you would like to use the PSU with?

BTW: Hey my Polish neigbour :)

Oh, no problem.

Well, I'm building a new system, so I was thinking about an Athlon64 3500+, a Gigabyte GA-K8NF-9 mainboard (or maybe an Epox EP-9NPA+ Ultra), 1.5 GB DDR (2x512, 2x256), Maxtor 200GB SATA HDD, DVD+ROM, DVD+RW, ATI Radeon X700 256MB... thats basically it.

Lol

Yeah for that system, a good quality 400W PSU like the one you posted would be sufficient. There would be no need to get a better, more expensive PSU unless you expect to use the PSU for the future...by when it would be obsolote anyaway :)

Haha

It was a pleasure helping someone mature at asking questions like you. Let me know how the new PC works when you assemble it :)

Thanks mate, I will, should get it before New Year :)

And no point in asking anything until you've read the 101s really. And I always try to keep in mind to be pleasant and polite to people who help me ;)
