Ive never heard of HIS, maybe someone else has?

I have no clue...:D
Ahh, I'm going to go with your suggestion for a graphics card...
The 1001 reviews just kind of persuaded me..
I don't know if it will be able to fit though..

The reviews on newegg mean nothing.

A 9800GTX+ is the exact same card as a GTS250, which performs near enough exactly the same as a 4850. You are better off going with the 4850 you originally posted because of the price.

HIS are a decent manufacturer, they certainly make reliable, high performing components

^ Probably a little, but if he gets a good GPU now, then he won't be stuck with a crappy one when he updates his mobo/cpu.

why? What is wrong with trying something different, it is hardly like there is a big difference between nvidia and ati apart from utilities and drivers

Nothing is wrong...some people prefer one over the other. I said if he is familiar then stick to it. I run ATI on my Dell and nVidia on my other. so I'm not being bias.

I didn't say you were being biased, just saying there is no reason not to switch. I've used both and have both in use now (not in the same system) and when I first swapped from one to the other without experience, there was no difference in getting it set up and working, it is the same process for both manufacturers. There isn't a reason to not switch if you have only used nvidia or only used ATi

No there isn't. Just saying if he wants to stay with nVidia he can. I not telling him what to pick. We gave him a few choices so he can choose what he goes with himself. ;)
