Is this a good video card?

Whats so bad about the card I was asking about? Its got a higher memory, higher bit, tons of the reviews said it ran Battlefield 2 great, F.E.A.R great, Quake games great, Unreal great.
The only flaw some people mentioned was its size. Whats wrong with the card im asking about?

Well first do you even have a PCi-Express slot? The core clock is slower, i will look up some reviews and get back to you, there are many 6800's...So make sure u looked at the Xtreme version! Lemme go look...

EDIT: To tell you the truth i couldnt find a review on it..I saw a lot for the 6800 Ultra Extreme, which is much different...Lemme keep looking!

Ok, i may be wrong on this, it is better than the 6800XT, and is very close with the 6600GT..I would get more opinions, for your price range, i guess this is a pretty good card...

KK, Thanks much for such a quick reply to this :D
So, anyone else got anything to say about this card? Or should I take a risk and buy it and see how it goes?

Personally I have a Gigabyte 6600GT and it plays whatever I throw at it. It is quite large but if you're looking for a PCI-E card with 256MB DDRII It's a great card. (Been playing F.E.A.R. and everything looks GREAT!)
Gigabyte Geforce 6600GT
Here's the link through Zip. (I payed 175.50 but it's 136.00 now.)

With free shipping I think it's a great buy! Just my .02

Holy shazbot, that card requires a 400 wat powersupply, the one that Cee suggested and mines 250. I think before I do ANYTHING at all. I should upgrade my power supply.. Anyone know of a good cheap powersupply? Lol

KKKKK!!!! The card Cee suggested looks like a good card. Should I buy the card since its got its rebate going and than save up for a power supply? Cause I wanna get the card as cheap as possible and I think it would be smart to buy the card than get the power supply because the powersupply I probably could get pretty cheap. Right? Help me here guys :(

You can get a 450W Antec Smartpower 2.0 PSU for $57 and change from Zip. (Were you saying the 6600GT required a 400W PSU?) I don't know the size of mine since it is the PSU that came with my Gateway PC but I've had no problems. (Just took my cover off and it's not printed on it where it is easily visible).

Another issue I've had are Mail in Rebates from online sites (mostly Tigerdirect) but I only trust MiR's if they're from a retail store where I will have the merchandise then and can ship the rebates out immediately. (Just a personal thing though).

Essentially it is your decision and no matter what we say it is your money and you have to choose what you will be happy with.

Or you can save a bit, and get the 7600GT for $204.99 (on Circuit City's website) Made by the same company as the 7600GS (EvGA)

I'd be inclined to get both, I wouldn't try powering the card with a 250W power supply. You can get a decent PSU and still stay close to your budget. The Aspire 500W is good value, if you don't want to spend much. Some other good buget options are the Rosewill RV400-2, Hipro HP-500, or XCLIO 450BL. The Aspire should be more than sufficient, though. If even that's overbudget, the Logisys 550W looks great for its price, and keeps you wholly within your $120 budget.

A little overbudget. The 7600GT is superb, but you are looking at at least $164 from newegg.

I had one myself until not so long ago. It was a good card for its time, but the 7600GS is better, not to mention cheaper. I don't see any value in the PCI-E 6600GT anymore: http://www.hardwarezone.com/articles/view.php?id=1856&cid=3&pg=11
The above website said:
The GeForce 7600 GS collides head-on with the older GeForce 6600 GT in the retail market and while the margin may not be that emphatic, the GeForce 7600 GS clearly emerges as the better card.

Based on the MSI NX7600GS-T2D256EH that we have just seen, the GeForce 7600 GS not only runs circles around the GeForce 6600 GT, it makes a mockery of ATI's mid-range offering.

:D Oh I don't argue at all that the 7600GS is not better. But for the time being I have no problems with the 6600GT. (When I first started posting the reply I thought the 6600GT was $118 which is was a couple weeks ago) but it went up a bit. :o . As far as the PSU goes I've always been a fan of Antec power supplies.
