Is this a motherboard or Powersupply Prob?

My wife's desktop is not recovering from a power outage.

A few weeks ago we had some bad storms here in Kentucky. My power went out and immediately back on either 2 or 3 times within a minute or so. Then the power went out for 6-7 hrs. When the power came back on, my wife's computer was totally dead. I pulled the PSU and checked it on my system. It worked fine. I pulled her mobo and cleared the bios. When I re-installed the PSU, the system worked. A little while ago, her little poodle got behind the system and knocked the power cord loose. After I straightened everything out, her system was dead again. I noticed the telltale on the back of her Bestec PSU was flashing. I unplugged the cable from the mobo and the telltale came on steady. I plugged the cable back in and the system booted fine.

Here is a description of her system:

Compaq Presario Model SR 1010Z
ASUS K8S-LA motherboard
AMD Athlon 64 3200+
512 MB Ram
Bestec model ATA-300-12Z power supply
Award BIOS v6.00PG Rev. 3.01
Windows XP Home 5.1 SP2

I don't know if this is going to happen everytime I lose power. I am not sure if the problem is in the power supply or the motherboard. I hope someone out there can give me some guidance.

Thanks in advance.

It's more than likely either a PSU, motherboard or some other component in your computer.

haha. Sorry, couldn't resist.

It's probably the PSU. When they do that to me I swap them out and all is well again.
