recently my laptop has been acting rediculously, it keeps telling me that the usb ports are not recognised, my cd /dvd drives have just dissapeared from the computer all together, and it even blue screens from time to time, saying it is because of a usb device being not recognised, when there are no devices plugged in.

i've ran an avast scan and spybot scan in safemode and found a couple of infected files which have been removed successfully apparently.

i was originally thinking it may be a problem with vista, or the drivers or something

but i've just discovered that the device that keeps installing and not being recognised is apparently 'fujitsu mhw2160bh' ; a type of hard disc that has never been in contact with the laptop. i checked in my network and a suspicious computer called 'Thomson' appeared, however now that I have uninstalled the fujitsu it is gone, though every time i log on it trys to reinstall, and still no sign of my cd /dvd drive.

it's an hp pavillion dv6000 laptop with 2 gig ram, 160 gig hard disc and amd dual core.

I'm clearly not the best with computers, and any help with what is happening here and how to fix it would be so much appreciated.

help!:(

Simply googling 'fujitsu mhw2160bh' shows that it is a harddrive. A lot of laptop's use Fujitsu harddrives. Have you physically checked the harddrive - what brand it is etc? Should be visable by taking of the back cover.

Thomson make a lot of routers/modems, especially ones branded as your ISP, eg. NTL, BT etc. That would be why it is on your network.

Put the log up that Respital said and someone will be able to help you I am sure.
