found in a virus log

12/11/2006 6:28:37 AM Not scanned (scan timed out) taskmgr.exe C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\1033\ACMAIN9.CHM\aclrgExampleOfCrosstabQuery.h tm (Virus)

i'm confused as to why this says virus when my searches indicate achmain9 is a normal part of office. Also the .htm part doesnt even exist under the acmain9.chm part.

then this week i get

12/20/2006 2:57:44 PM Not scanned (scan timed out) NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM imapi.exe C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\1033\ACMAIN9.CHM\00000d2a.vbs (Virus)

If i'm not mistaken, is see it says (scan timed out) That means the scan never finished and most likely froze up or just lagged so bad that it timed out. This could happen when it scans a very big file. I dont understand the (virus) in the end of every log. Does it give you an option to heal, delete? anything?

Maybe its not a virus, maybe it just timed out on that file.
Maybe it is a virus.

Im going with ..........................It's not a virus

Try rerunning all your utility programs and anti-virus programs.

The files it indicates, arn't really the type of files you see get infected. I personally have never seen a file like C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\1033\ACMAIN9.CHM\00000d2a.vbs in Microsoft office ever get infected by any virus.

could be wrong though

no warning at all about anything. That's why i thought it was weird

plus there is no acmain9.chm directory or 0000032a.vbs file

i got worried because i do know vbs can be very bad things for your computer. Hidden files are shown in explorer but i wonder if it's possible to hide things even from that? I dont get how mcafee can scan what isnt there?

for the fun of it, i searched for 00000d2a in my registry and didnt find it. So i guess it is safe

I've increased scan from 45 seconds to 99 so let's see what happens
