Hey, I put this in OS because I really have no idea where else to put it.
I bought a netbook about 1 year ago and after about 1 month after I got it I started having what seemed to be software problems. I ran all the anti virus and nothing helped, in the end I just had to reinstall the OS (Win 7). It worked, great, until about 1 month later again the problem started... I was very confused and no virus was detetected by any anti virus software... I dont think it can be hardware related either so I decided to install windows XP this time, I donno why I never used 7 before this computer and didnt quite trust it. Worked fine at first but then 1 or 2 months later, the problem comes again! Put 7 back on, problem again. Reinstall again, this time problem started in just 3 days.
Now let me describe this problem... it will not be easy because every time it is a little bit different, takes a little bit different time to start, and often if I continue to use my computer with the problem it also changes, sometimes worse, sometimes better...
Anyway, usually the first I notice of the problem is while using the computer, it started up normally but after some time it would slow up, I reinstall and that is normally the point where it starts to go bad. After that other problem occur. Mostly it will get stuck for 1-10 minutes on a black screen during windows start up. Sometimes there will be error messages during this black screen, sometimes not. Then when it finally does start up the computer MIGHT be really slow, almost unusably slow. Ive also had problems with certain programs just suddenly not working any more, skype for example among others.
Sorry I cant give any more accurate description than this, as I said it seems to be a very unpredictable problem. Right now for example if I turn on my computer I really dont know if it will be usable, semi usable, or not start up at all.
So to sum up... I have tried several anti virus, scanned every single file on both partitions of the harddrive and no virus could ever be detected, I took the computer to a shop... they scanned it with their anti virus, nothing, they said the only thing they could do would be to reinstall windows which I can do myself. Ive asked many computer wiz friends and none of them had a clue what was causing this. It doesnt seem hardware related, its not the OS itself as I tried 2, its not a virus. Ive installed the drivers from the website and the CD, although they were less than reliable imo (many errors during setup), Im stumped.
The only thing I havent tried is to delete everything on the nonsystem partition, I have around 80gb of files on there and nowhere to put them, or course I formated the c: but Im avoiding to format the other one, and I kind of trust the amount of anti virus Ive used so I dont see how that could be a problem. Or could it?
Please, Im going nuts with this!! Right now Ive had to borrow a friends computer but they need it back and need to solve this problem Ive had for 1 long year. Please can someone help!!
