I am in the process of building my first computer. I purchased a Diamond Viper Raedon ATI GDDRII pci express 16X , 600Mhz, model X1650 video card for 55 dollars with a 20 dollar rebate. I want something that will play most current games, thanks.

The 1650 won't play the newest games very well. You need at least a ATI 3850 to play them well. But it depends on what games you want to play, if it's crysis, you might be able to use it to play at low settings. UT3 will also play at lower settings.

Why did you buy a card, and then ask for opinions?

I'm not that familiar with ATI's Products, but it's seems pretty low-end. It might be able to play some games, on low settings and low resolution... with low frame rates...

This fits your price range and will play half life and mabe some recent games.

This is a little more expensive, but will be much more powerful. It's prolly the best price to performance ratio you can get and will last you a longuer time. Definitly worth the extra 25$. There's a 20 rebate on newegg right now, so it will bring it down to like 65$, I highly recommend this card for you.

The 7300gt Sniper links to is no good, less than a card OP has now. the 7600gt is just nominally better. If OP already has the x1650, it's not worth it to upgrade again, imo, especially if it were such a small upgrade. $35 for the card was a pretty good deal, it's nearly on par with the 7600gs.

Save up the money for a $180 (or so) 3850, that's an upgrade.

Ya you're right I was looking at the specs between the x1600 and 7300GT, there's not that much of an improvement, but the 7600GT for 65$ seems pretty good deal to me!

if you want to play the latest games, then you'll definately need somethin better :) when I was younger I learned that the hard way. ATI recently came out with budget models of their newest cards. the 3870 and 3850 are the higher end 2. the 3650 and 3450 are the budget models. and they give out more performance than the x1650 and should be fine for what you'd like to do.

To compare the specs :
The HD 3650/3450
