After playing wolfenstein ET and 10 mins of America's Army my CPU was at 48C. In bios i also found it was running AMD K8V Cool n' Quiet Technology but i have a SOLTEK! my K8V i had before crashed and i got a new mobo which is now the SOltek!

AMD 64 3200+
New Castle COre
Stock Fan

Oh and i disable the Cool N' Quiet technology!

Yo!

As Praetor said, it is cool! Especially given the processor you are running. Mine is running at 40 max but that's because it's an 1800+ ocd to 2400+. So you are cooler than cool. It is almost worthless investing more into a cooling solution that would most definitely only bring the temps down by a bit.

WOW, THAT IS COLD, if you wanna get any colder i would recomend water cooling, cause that sounds like the only thing to satisfy your apitite...

i have the same problem...I have an AMD Athlon 2600+ and it runs at about 65 celcius and about 55 with the side panel off. I have 3 case fans and the fan on the CPU, is this hot? what is the highest temp range that a AMD should get to before i shut it off?

YES THATS HOT!!! i think the maximum temp is 70C but im not sure, just do a quick google search... however i belive the amd should have an autoshutoff on it.

I am not 100% sure...

Hey man. I think that the temps you should start getting worried about is when they start going over 70. I think that my Athlon XP 1800+ could get destroyed at 85 Celsius. That's when AMD I think claimed it would go bust.

There's always vapor exchange units.....

Yeah thats hot. You've deiniftley got congestion in the case if the sidepanel results in a 10C drop...

I'd start panicing at 70C .. the motherboards usually kick in at 85ºC

AMD Athlon 64's can reach 70c before it's critical...not long after that it's fried :o and AMD Athlon XP Barton's can reach 85c before it cant handle it anymore (Poor CPU) Although the older amd's could reach higher 90-95c :o

Intel Pentium 4's come with a step down facilility. it drops the speed of the CPU when it gets too hot...as it gets hotter the CPU will decrease in speed but the max is about 75-80c whcih is quite high aswell :)

I dunno where you're getting that information but mine can have a sauna at almost 90C without destabilization. When I run my vent-testing I usually let the temp get to about 80-85C ... nobody dyin nowhere. Regardless the A64 mobos have the autokill feature (well ive not found one not to have it)

For all intents and purposes thats a mobo feature rather than a CPU feature (i.e., take teh HSF off ... no amount of throttling will help you). AMD platform has the same dealy

Most intel chips will survive removing the heatsink during operation, although if you do this jsut for a test/kicks your an idiot :P.
