Is this possible? Wi-fi card

Buy wi-fi card TP-link TL-WN722N with changable antena, buy for example an 5km radius wifi antena. Attach antena onto wi-fi card, wi-fi card in netbook, and on netbook i use program called virtual router to share network that i get from my neighbour that is 500m away from me, into my house? Does that program do the same as Access point on some routers? Thx

I can't say if the antenna will make it so you can reliably pickup your neighbors signal but yes, Virtual Router will allow you to re-broadcast the connection. You might also look into Connectify which is more actively developed.

First, any antenna marketed as having a 5km radius is grossly exaggerating. Unless you have a yagi/directional antenna mounted on the roof of your house, anything you do to the antenna attached to the netbook will make very little difference. 500m is a great distance, if you have no obstructions between you and him it's definitely possible, but if there are several houses, trees, etc., I wouldn't count on it.

First of all the WiFi communication is two way so he would need to have hardware that can talk back to your computer. There is no chance of 5km Wifi signals, I used to install outdoor WiFi networks using industrial strength high gain antennas. Even with line of site we would be lucky to get more than 100m with minimal packet loss and a stable connection. Even if it were possible, the cost of purchasing all the equipment would far outweigh the cost of your neighbor paying for his own internet connection.

Do you have your neighbors permission to use his network?
I have found that in most cases someone is trying to access someones network without permission.
