Ok, Im in Japan right now, and my laptop has an English windows xp pro on it. I have a wireless router and a card and it seems to work fine. Here though they have a Yahoo BB service provider for internet, and when I try to instal it it says that my OS is not in Japanese so It wont work. Is there any way to fool it or to bypass this?

P.S. I know my question is with a laptop but the desktop forum gets much more answers, and this is question is regarding the OS which is the same on desktop computers.

I dont think so because it's using Japanese coding technology but someone will probably prove me wrong it's not the first time.

Are you sure you need this to access the net? :)

What do you mean are you sure you need it?
As in "are you sure you have to install this program or whatever to connect?" they do that BS around here a lot ... all the broadband people give us software which "allows us to connect to the net" when really its not required.

He means that he already has accessed the net by posting this topic.
Or yeah essentially that (however he could be posting from a different computer which is why i had to explain it further :))

The only reason you need software is for the router so if you have a wireless router then you might be able to access the internet if you are near enough the wireless connection

1. Software for a router? You mean drivers for the wireless card?
2. AFAIK, Yahoo doesnt make routers.

I didn't mean that all ISP's created routers or software but Bt does and has software that you have to install.
And I dont mean drivers I mean hardware it's listed as hardware on the device manager

Oh wow, lots of replies. Anyway, I have the wireless card working and connected to the wireless router. How would I go about connecting to the internet without the yahoo disk? And yes I am posting on a different computer.
