Hey,

I am getting a laptop this summer and a second monitor for my desktop, but I got this weird idea. Would I be able to connect the laptop to my desktop so I could use it as a second monitor, but also go into its files with the same mouse connected to my desktop?

Please ask me to clarify if confused.

Well.... You could get some type of KVM switch and just change between the mouse. This wouldn't allow you to drag and drop between the computers, but you could switch between them pretty easily. Plus they could be networked easily enough so you could just share a common folder between them.
 
thanks man, that more than i thought i could do with it in the first place :) . would you happen to know how much money that switch is worth?
 
thats quite interesting, but i would probably go for something that would switch between entire computers and not just share a printer.
