Is this power supply good enough?

Your friend is off on the actual power requirements. The Corsair supply at the link is quite adequate unless you are planning to run a Crossfire setup with two identical cards.

Yea it's fine for the card. You shouldn't have to worry about not having enough power if that's your main concern.

A 1000w supply just for any video card is simply overkill. You'll never see any super load placed on a supply that large even if you oc the card itself. The 750w model is by a good brand to start off with and will still see extra onhand for other hardwares including additional drives.

Are you positive because that card is 2 gigs! I heard some people say it used RIDICULOUS power when playing games. I also heard I can boil an egg on top of it. This is not an ordinary card. Are you positive?

PC Power and Cooling, Corsair, OCZ, Antec go for 1 f these makes, they can all be trusted

there is no way you will need 1000w, your friend is mad 750 will be fine as long as it is from a good brand

Reliability depends on seeing a supply having good regulation and not dropping off when you place a good load on it. An inadequate supply will wink out on you when it can't handle a load.

I may not have a high end but a mid range card here now but did have 4 HDs and 2 opticals running a low ender in the last build with a 480w replaced by a 550w when that suddenly quit. That was the first Antec to go on me personally. The 550w is still going strong while two of the drives are in the current build.
