Are you buying that stuff separated and making it yourself or you're going to buy it already built?

Looks pretty good for gaming. Is newegg actually that much cheaper than other places? I've never really taken a look at it since I didn't need anything but I'm considering it now.

once again, check out my sig.
ad btw, what will you be doing with it, primarily gamingam i correct?
I would take two gigs of ram, your is barely faster than pc3200

really? i didnt think it was quite time yet to need 2gb of ram, i will have to get that later though, not enough money to get 2gb of the ram i want.

newegg is a great website and has low prices, however, other websites sometimes has cheaper prices. check out www.pricewatch.com, finds many of the websites you never heard about before.

that's what I'm saying
my computer =1400 or under i think./
you are spending excess money on pc3500 ram whic is pointless cause its only 1 gig when you can get 2 gigs with tighter timings for only a little bit more.

you could also upgrape the processor
here i will just post my cpu:

cpu:AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ Manchester = 400
with this cpu, you get .2ghz higher, but at the same voltages

mobo: EPoX EP-9NPA+Ultra = 105
with this mobo, you gt great customer service, along with a SLEW of overclocking options

HD: W.D. Caviar SE16 250GB 7200 RPM 3.0Gb/s HD = 115
with this hd, you get double the space

optical: LITE-ON Black IDE DVD Burner = 40
doesnt really matter here

ram:OCZ 2GB (2 x 1GB) Dual Channel Platinum =244
2 gigs of ram here, at very very low timings

gpu:eVGA Geforce 7800GT 256MB = 300
same

psu:Antec TRUEPOWERII TPII-550 550W = 90
no major upgrade here, just about 30$ less and a great reliable company, but oz offers that too

total= somewhrer around 1304 i think, just add in your case and your set

400
105
300
244
115
090
040
1 1
1294

I wouldn't get the ePox board, you dont know what your missing till you get a DFI, then your spoiled by it :P

I think you've done a good job, only thing you might consider is 2 Gb of RAM or a bigger hard drive but its up to you. Its your choice though, for an overclocking rig thats as good as it gets for your buget.

Thats a damn nice start, so lets see what we can do with it :)

- AMD Athlon64 X2 4200 [S939, Manchester, ADA4200DAA5BV, $400]
- DFI Lanparty UT nf4 ultra-d [$135]
- Maxtor DiamondMax10 200GB [16MB, NCQ, $90]
- Antec NeoHE 500W [12V@51A, $100]
- NEC 3550 [$40]
- Crucial Ballisix 2x512 [[email protected] $120]
- MSI NX7800GTX 256MB [$450]
- LiteOn SOHD-16P9SV DVDROM [$20]
Subtotal = 1355

Better chip, better VC, arguably better PSU, arguably better RAM, better HDD ... room for a case. Done and done.

Have you ever USED an EpoX board???? They kick ass.

wow thanks for all the advice, have to go re-evaluate my list

and praetor, that looks great but adding in a case and nice sound card will put me a little over budget, but i will mess around with it and get a mix

Yeah the only things on your original list I would consider changing/removing really are the soundcard and the RAM. Id stick with the onboard sound the DFI board has for now until you can upgrade or get the tried and trie Audigy2ZS (and upgrade when the XFis are more reasonably priced). As for OCz memory ... its good stuff ... but expensive .. possibly more expensive than you would be able to take advantage of

Well as i said before, you dont have to worry about the soundcard for now and as for case, theres still money left over from the budget to get a case.

and whats your thought on 2gb of ram? or should i wait on that too?
Depends on what you want to do. With your given budget that's not happening unless you start scaling stuff back

sorry to hijack, but preator, what do you think I should do, pikc up an Ultra D mobo, I was going to go with the epox, but now all the sudden its been getting real bad reviews on th egg. Money isnt really that much of an issue, but i no I dont ned sli, that;s why im not going with like an sli dr, or s8n premium. Thanks, matt

Cyber Power Systems is recommended by AMD and the number of awards they have received are outstanding. I also have two friends who bought computers from there and are extremely satisfied with their purchases. The stuff they offer you is great and gives a lot of options.
