Is this the best value Motherboard?

the d is for durable, the capacitors are made better thats all, just get the ds3 imo
 
Actually, a review I read comparing the DS3 to the S3, and the S3 got to 505 FSB, and was the best budget overclocking board.

In otherwords, the more durable capacitors aren't worth the extra money if you are on a tight budget.
 
Yeah, solid capacitors are still an unknown when it comes to overclocking. They will last longer and handle heat better but standard caps last a long time on their own and are cheaper. The S3 and DS3 have a difference gigabit controller but are otherwise the same. I can't tell what difference the 2 Marvell gigabit controllers have.

I have the S3 and it is good, the only drawback is the crappy northbridge cooling.
 
The main thing is getting DDR2 xxx speed for the board. unless you get 4 GB sticks, you will be fine, unless there is a compatibility issue. In that case, just update your BIOS
 
The S3 and DS3 are functionally identicle. Any RAM that works on one will work on the other.
