Is this the card for me?

Hello Everyone,
Iam running integrated graphics now *bleh* and want to upgrade my video card. I am not a super graphics kind of guy, because I don't play to many FPS games and stuff of that nature. I play MMORPGS and I'm hoping to get a card that could run games like Guild Wars Nightfall and EQ2. I am looking at this card now, and is this a decent card that I should get?

x1300 is not a nice card to be fair, what budget are you looking at. I assume you are after PCI-Express as thats the format of the card listed

Yes I am, I am generally looking at a price of around $50-$100.
I also don't care about playing the MMORPGS on max settings either. Just normal default is fine for me

Yeah I agree with maroon1.

And aianiel: my programming teacher had that exact same picture as your avatar for his wallpaper! :D

Haha yeah, I saw that on a website and thought it was kind of odd haha.

Does the bit count? (128-bit, etc) I'm guessing it does, sounds like it determines if it can fit in the slot. But then again, I know practically nothing about video cards except that I need PCI Express haha

And also I'm looking at the inside of my computer right now and it appears that in order for the 7300 GT to fit in it the slot the plug slots would have to be facing towards the front of the computer (DVD Drive, CD-Drive, etc.) Is it supposed to be like that?

Also the 7300 GT has this big hoop coming out of the end? Will that fit inside the case? (I have a Dell Dimension 4700 PC case)

Any video card can play oblivion on high. I have geforce 6600 and I can play it on high. But the problem is that you need powerful video card if you want to get a decent fps on high setting.

But what's your point ? do you want to show to us that X1300pro is better than 7300GT ?

7300GT will perform better than X1300pro, because it has 8 pipelines clocked at 450MHz. On the other hand the X1300pro has 4 pipelines clocked at 600MHz
So, the 7300GT will produce more texture fillrate/sec and more operation/sec than X1300pro

Instead of buying a new card such as the X1K or 7xxx series, look at previous gen cards, such as the X and 6xxx series. The x700PRO for $50 would be a great choice, or even better, $130 for a 7800GT.

I'm not sure if the 7800GTR would be a wise decission tough,.. seeing as he has a Dell case,.. i gues he uses a Dell PSU too.. so the 7800GT migh be too much already :)
as you stated,.. you dont need really bad-ass grafic's. a 6600 can run WoW maxed out (if the CPU and RAM are 'good' enough.. so the 7300GT will be just fine i think :o ) another plus.. that 'hoop' is a heatpipe on the cooler,.. and that care is fully passively cooled, so its nicely silent too :)

just get a 6600gt because they are the equivalent of a x700, but they are cheap and they dont take much power to run. just get it. you wont be sorry

yep, im running a 7800gt and it plays oblivion @ highest settings... a really good card for the price... power consumption isn't ridiculous like a lot of cards are.
