How does companies like Operating System companies and Antivirus Companies Get rid of Piracy?
I've heard that Cop attacks the the Organisations, Homes with Pirated Version of OS, Antivirus; But How do they know about it?
Is true that Cop rides for OS/Antivirus?
:)

they can't stop piracy. The way they try is with keys.

You buy a copy of windows, it has a key you use, you buy a copy of norton, panda, avast!, AVG, Kaspersky, whatever, it has a key. Legally, you can only use that key on the number of machines that you bought the liscence for. You buy a single liscence, you can install it on one system, you buy 3, you can install it on 3 computers.

Just like every other anti-piracy method, there are ways around them though

There have been instances that the police have taken action against pirates, but generally it is just to make an example so people get scared. They find out because if you illegally download a piece of software, they can track your IP to find out where you are downloading from. IF they then get sufficient evidence to be able to get permission to search the house and computer, you can't stop them from coming inspecting to see if you have illegal materials

okay; isnt there any other way?
because... if somebody uses a same legal licensed key to all the systems that he willl be using, then what will happen?

the key gets bound to the system it was first installed in. You put the hard drive in another system, it will ask you to activate, you try to use the key on another system, it will say it is invalid

It used to be that a serial key could be used on a number of systems without anyone knowing, but now that almost everyone has an internet connection, software will report back to their servers to verify the serial number, and to make sure you haven't installed it on more computers then you are allowed. If a serial number was found used on lots of computers, they may determine that the key was compromised so that key is no longer valid.

Even if you run out of automatic renewals, you can call the number posted when you install and 99.9% of the time they'll ask you if its on more than one computer (say no) then give you a telephone activation

^ This is true. I've activated the same copy of XP 32 bit OEM about 6 times from reformatting/rebuilding computers (hard drives wiped of course)
