Is this virus or what?

Hi! Thanks Google for showing me this site...
I'm having a problem. There's somethin wrong with my desktop display. It's blank since 2 days ago. And I can't change nor choose any picture of the wallpaper's list. I can't be clicked. A friend told me that maybe it's a virus.
I'm running McAfee as my anti-virus, and I update it daily. But it doesn't notice any viruses... I'm visual, and it's really annoying to see blank grey screen...
Any help will be deeply appreciated

It doesn't always have to be the result seen after a virus has infected a system. Have you made any software changes like installing a new problem lately? You can try a few online virus/malware scanners provided by software manufacturers that sell antivirus and other security type softwares. McAFee is far from one of the better problems for finding things.

However even McAfee has a free online virus scanner along with Symantec, Panda, and others found at http://windowsxp.mvps.org/Scanners.htm The best thing to do is try a few to see if one finds what another might miss if something other then a driver or hardware problem is he reason.
