isnt using native res for lcd monitors gonna make everything small and hard to read?

i ordered Samsung SM205BW and the native res for it is 1680 x 1050 but wouldnt that make everything really small and hard to read? I read its best to use a screen like that at its native res but I dunno I always use 1280x1024 on my current crt screen

Your forgetting, your crt is is what 17,18 inches? The new monitor is 20 inch and its widescreen. Dont think of the larger resolution as making everything smaller on your crt, but adding 3 or 4 inches to your new lcd.

Ged it? More or less, dont worrie, it is best to run it at the native resolution, and you probibly wont notice much of a difference from what your running now.

EDIT: Make sure your graphics card can support that higher resolution before buying.

i have a 19" monitor currently. My vid card is Radeon 9600 Pro 128mb. Will that have the res? it has a dvi input at the back but the native res for that screen isnt in the settings with all the other ones but thats probably because the crt screen im using right now doesnt support that res and it'll appear when i hook that new screen up right?
 
yes, the crt doesnt support it, so the res doesnt show up atm.

about all (relatively) recent cards can go to 2048x1600 (or so) resolution, so you should be able to do so too.

on a sidenote, not using the native resolution on a LCD will make the screen appear blurry, so yea, its the best to use it.
as for the size.. if its too smal, you can always put up the dpi a bit in the monitor setup, that will make things bigger too.
