Issues with ASUS 3850

Just got a ASUS 3850 but after installing it I get random restarts. Then when I play FEAR I get weird looking graphics. What can cause this?

Check your PSU. Specifically the side sticker, check the Wattage of the unit and the amperage on the +12v rails. You may have multiple +12v raiuls so list the amps on all, ignore the -12v rails. If there's a wattage below below or relating to the +12v rail, include that.

Other than that it could be overheating, check temps with rivatuner or PCwizard. Is the card overclocked?

since he's just installed it i doubt it has been overclocked yet. but the power supply is a good place to start looking.

I wouldn't think so, those cables supply extra, but not (always) needed power to the CPU. Should be unrelated to this GPU specific problem.

What's the manufacture of that PSU? According to the specs given, I would assume it's capable, even without knowing the definitive wattage of the rails. I would still advise you to check temps with one of the above apps, to rule out overheating, and maybe even give us the clocks (rivatuner can do that) to make sure this isn't the work of an unstable OC.

If you can test with another PSU or even Graphics card, it might help to shed light on whatever's going on.

It was all good until I change Video cards from Nvidia 7900 GT to the ATI 3850. I did use rivatuner and all was good even the temperatures 40c idle and 59c full load.
