issues with client Thunderbird and viewing pictures

I get family pictures or what ever all the time from people. The problem is for example: My brother sent some pictures of deep snow and camp in the bush. The pictures do not auto show up. I can see 5 attachments and have to click on each one then view, then open up the other and other the same way.

I know many times i have attached many pictures and sent to others and myself to see. Some time they all show up at once then just scroll. And other times i have to click on each picture then close the picture and open the next one for all. Im curious because many times i can open the email and see all there just by scrolling. Any ideas why?

Some email programs actually embed the pictures into the email and also send as attachments. The embedded pictures is what you are seeing and then you scroll.
 
Anyway to make that happen John? Anyway to fix it, or something i can do that is different.
Read again. Ive attached many pictures and i could scroll down to see all of them mostly. Today testing it did not.
