Issues with nVidia drivers

Whats up everyone? I just bought an AGP 6800Ultra and am so happy with it with the exception of a couple issues. The first, in battlefield 2, it will run fine for a short time and lag at random times (its not net connection, i dont have settings too high for card). A friend of mine who does our companies IT has had the same issue with his 6800GT. Has anyone else experienced this issue? Secondly, has anyone experienced issues with watching videos and the colors are washed out? I was able to find a temp fix for this but this is ridiculous. I just shelled out $418.00 for a graphics card, this thing should be giving me no problems with gaming, taking my tests at school, washing my car, and picking up the empty beer bottles from the night before.

All joking aside, has anyone else had issues with the latest nvidia drivers?

what is the spec of that card??

i have a raedeon x800se (128mb) and i also find that battlefield 2 lags a bit, i think its beucase it is a VERY power hungry game that needs a lot of power to run it!

At the moment im not sure what brand it is but i can tell you this....when i bought it about 9 months ago, i made sure it was a good and reputable psu. i had fried a couple psu's in one week (i found out i had a loose screw under my mobo) so i bought a good one. Im sure its not a power issue. Plus, I have my card on its own rail.

indeed it is. a friend of mine had to overclock his x800se to run bf2 on the highest settings. and the minimum specs are a fx5700, wich is a pretty capable card, and a 2400+ cpu.
(ok, i dont really know why it runs in my system. but i was able o play it with a fx5200. (with everyhing on low ofcouse)

Edit: in the worst case, you would have to update the bios/firmware of the card to the newest version. (on battlefield 1942, i had no words on the menu buttons and such stuff. now it runns fine.)

Thanks everyone for the input....yes my computer is spyware free....i have spyware blaster, adaware, spybot, and msas-beta. I am behind a router and never use internet explorer, firefox rocks. I just think there is some sort of issue with rendering something in bf2 with nvidias drivers. Every other game i play runs great. As stated above, a buddy of mine is having the same issues.

AMD Athalon XP 2600+ (not oc'd)
gig o pc2700 Kingston RAM

eVGA 6800 Ultra 256mb AGP

Yea, that was a brainfart, prolly should have listed the specs in my first post, sorry!

OH YEH another good idea is run least possible other programs whilst playing battlefield 2, it reccomends it in the manuel, TRUST ME it helps!

Yea i heard about the patch being a load of crap so i uninstalled and re-installed bf2. Like i said, i can play doom3 on high-ultrahigh settings with no prob, lord of the rings: battle for middle earth on 1280x1024 no problem, etc. A friend of mine, whom i mentioned is having the same issue, said today that there is some tweak he found out about. He was saying that you somehow get punkbuster to manually update before you go into the game instead of updating while in game (or something similiar to that). He said that he noticed a significant difference in improvement. What do you think guys? Could there be an issue with punkbuster and nividia drivers/software? I'm getting ready to throw in my 9800AIW again cuz this is ridiculous. For the love of christ on a bike, BF2 is sponsored by nVidia! BTW, ive really been looking into this and there is alot of people complaining with the same problem i am having. Shoulda stuck with ATI...... :(

You can try using your 9800AIW and see if it gives better performance, but I think its not Nvidia's fault, just Battlefield 2's memory leak or something else in the game.

See that sucks. I just spent a ton o money on that card and to have to switch....what a waste. Personally, i think there is some sort of conflict with the bf2 engine and something to do with nvidias drivers. Hopefully one of these days this prob gets fixed.

I have a GForce Fx 5200 And while watching videos i get a washed out look too.
But its only when watching videos.
Also i just updated the drivers a week ago.
