Hi all

I am not 100% sure if this is the right place to post this question, but it seem to be the closest, please tell me otherwise.

Background info
Windows Vista
3 sata HD
2 ide HD
motherboard: gigabyte 945P-s3

This morning i turned on my computer, i left it on and went to work like i always do with uTorrent running. When i got back after work, when i go to "computer", i found out that 2 of my HD are missing, so i switched off my computer and check the cables if they are loose. After making sure that nothing is loose, i turned my computer back on, when i pressed the power switch, the computer's internal speaker starts beeping, the beeping isnt just 1 tone "beep beep beep...." but like 4 different tones, "beep be b BEZZZP". I didnt do anything and kept waiting to see if it will load to windows. The loading is really long, at the motherboard's flash screen, it stayed there for like 30 seconds (5 second max before) and at the part before Vista's loading screen, it stayed there for like a mintue (15 seconds before). It finally reached the Vista's loading screen and all the beeping stopped. Window vista is working normally and nothing seem slow once i get into windows except 2 of my HD is missing.

Does anyone know why my computer is beeping and loads so slow before getting to windows? (it seems like it is searching for something, maybe the missing HDs? I have also tried loading windows after unplugging all other HDs, but the problem still presist. What is happening?!

any help is appreciated

Please help me
Thanks before hand
Darren

it appears that there is a problem with your motherboard. I'd say something on it went bad, i'd suggest going to the manufacturer website to see if you can find out what the beeping means. Usually beeping in a certain way is an error code. I'd look it up for you but i can't because i didn't hear the error code therefor i really don't know what it sounds like so i'd probably get the wrong one. also, do the ide hard drives power up?

Heyhey!

thanks for your info, i have checked gigabyte's website and i cant find the place to look up beeping sounds, i am clueless.
secondly, i have said previously that 2 of my HD is not working. today, one of them reappeared for some reason. the HD that is not working right now is a SATA HD, maybe it died? But when i checked BIOS, it listed exactly 5 (ALL) HD, but when i clicked inside the HD that is not working, it says that it has 0 GB of space and when i click detect that particular HD, the computer tries to detect it for a long time and nothing happens. does that mean that HD is dead or is that motherboard's problem like you said.
what should i do now? should i bring my computer to some technicians and pay them to get my computer checked up?

If anyone would like to hear the beeping sound, i am heppy to record it and send it to you somehow or upload it somewhere, just let me know please

any information from anyone would help a great deal,

thanks before hand,
Darren

If the motherboard is going out you can probably say that its displaying false information. I think its time to get an new motehrboard before you do anything though... but you might wanna see what that error code is.
