I just ordered my new parts, in 5 days time I will have this system:

CPU: AMD Athlon 64 3800+ AM2
Motherboard: ECS Nforce4 AM2
RAM: 2 x 512MB XMS2 DDR2 800
GPU: ATi Radeon X850XT PE 256MB
HDD: 160GB Seagate Barracuda 7200.9 SATA NCQ 3Gb/s
Case: Raidmax Sagitta w/ 450W PSU

OUCH... I hope you plan on getting another PSU. The Radeon is pretty power hungry from what I hear...

(FYI, the 12v line on that PSU is only 14A)

Edit: It says its 21A on the photo of the psu.

It may work, but you will be putting alot of stress on your power supply, so if it dies in a few months you'll know why.

ive been running my pentium 4 3ghz and the radeon on a stock dell psu and it works fine. will this setup be more power hungry than the p4?

cpuz said that my p4 is running on ~3v. A review I read said that the AMD ran at about 1.5v. I don't know what it means but it might be significant.

We're not talking about volts, we're talking about amps. Why don't you look on your old Dell power supply and see how many amps it has on the 12v line...

Why that video card? And I'm guessing you bought it ahead of the price cut plans, so you paid like $270 for the cpu?

Im still interested as to where you read his new case PSU was only 14A ;) .

And it's too late now, but I would have waited for Conroe to come out, since the price of that CPU will be about 35-50% cheaper.

the one on newegg does show 21A an the picture and I think that there are different versions of this case because there was a review of a sagitta case where they said that the mobo tray wasnt removable but on others it is. So this one should come with a 21A 12 volt rail. If it doesn't I guess i'm ordering a new psu also.

assuming that this new psu really is 21A the system should be fine because the dell psu thats running the card and a p4 is 18A.

congrats on your new system.....feels good eh?
Don't wait for conroe.....don't wait for anything!
I build my system 3 month ago. Money got delayed and
I had to start all over. In another 14 days some new cool sh*t is going
to hit the shelves, and then some. There will always be something coming out soon, that is better than what you have or what you can get. Wait 5 months, and your system is outdated and Conroe is "old" but this new "thing" is awesome. LOL dang! PC worlds are fast moving realities huh?
