Hello,

I have an ipod touch which upuntil recently worked fine with my Win XP machine.

However now when i plug it in, i get the Windows message asking me to get pictures off it. (It never came up with that before - I attached the error to this post)

I have tried multiple differnt USB ports, different cables, uninstalling itunes etc.

Stil doesn't see it in itunes.

However, if i connect the ipod to my sony vaio (Vista) laptop, it sees it just fine.

Any ideas?

well an ipod touch can not be used as a USB, have you got the latest itunes (which is 8) try that.

I do not own a touch, you might want to ask a Touch owner Kornowski.
anyways my phones does that. It has 2 modes. One for File transfer / memory card and the other normal (phone) mode. I'd get the above on Phone mode, so try checking if there's anything on your touch that can change connectivity type....

No the Touch doesnt have such an option. Plus i can take the same ipod and plug it into another machine without changing a thing at it works. I think it more of a problem with the actual computer and / or iTunes

Finally fixed it!!

I had to uninstall ALL apple products. Cleared out the regsitry, and deleted any Apple related files, apart from my songs.

I then installed an earlier version of iTunes (7.0).

I then copied my songs back iTunes, unfortunalty it has duplicated all 3000 songs. So i have to go through the libary and delete 3000 songs...YAY!

BUT iTunes picks up my ipod now! wooo...

Oh, well i'll remember that for next time :P

Nice work, and at least it is working now, and that we know the solution next time for someone that has the same problem :D
