does anybody out there use itunes with an athlon processor?...on the website
it says something about needing a 500mhz pentium class processpr or better
any help???

And it should work on an equivalent AMD processor as well (500MHz). I've seen many computer bundles with AMD chips and iTunes already installed on it.

Of course it will work. It does say "or better" doesn't it :D

Seriously though, anything that will run on an Intel machine should have no problem running on an AMD machine. If it does then it's poorly written. I have yet to find any software so poorly written that it will not work on an AMD based machine. You have more than enough computer muscle to run it.

Usually it will run on a lower speed rated AMD chip anyway, since the AMD run slower but have similar performance results...

This is true. If, for example it says it requires a 700mhz Pentium III then you can probably run it on a 550 or 600mhz Athlon.

It should work with a 400mhz amd easy....Even an old 600mhz duron which i dout anyone has on this board...by has i mean has and uses :P Yours can run it FINE.

Actually Durons aren't that bad. A 1.6Ghz Duron will out perform a 2.6 Ghz Celeron or a 1.8Ghz Pentium 4. They're ok for people who just want the basics. My suitcase started as a 1.2ghz Duron. It was $30 so I got it just so I could turn it on. :)

You're probably right about a 600mhz duron though. That's probably non-existant here. And by that I mean has and uses :)

so u guys are saying a low speed athlon really can work as if it WAS a higher (say pentium or sumthing)....if i have a 2.2ghz athlon what would that be equal to as a pentium?:D

I had a 1.2ghz duron that preformaded almost as well as my 2.8ghz celeron D...

Mine did ok. Just wanted games to play better. Now I'm at 2.1 Ghz. Slightly overclocked. Plus by today's standards 1.2ghz is slow.

Depends on what task you're comparing. Probably somewhere between 2.8 - 3.4 GHz Pentium 4 range depending on what test you run to compare them.
