iTunes (sorry)

Let me start by saying I HATE iTunes and wish there was a real viable alternative :(

I have a Windows 8 (Windows 10 on the last day it is available for free) and a Windows 7 Laptop (soon to hopefully be wiped) that I want to put my music on. Is there a way to have my ipod synched to both? I cant seem to find anything with iTunes saying how to do it. anyone have any suggestions?

I probably shouldn't have said synced. I just want to be able to have my music and video's on both my laptop and my PC. Every time I have tried it wants me to format the Ipod. it is an older ipod (3rd gen I think)
 
You need to plug it in and check the box to manually manage music on the device page in iTunes
 
Damn I've never understood how people hate Itunes... I've been using it before having an Ipod and never changed since. Works perfectly, especially since their latest version.
 
I don't even know if I installed it... but I remember you can stop the update in their apple update service.

I remember trying to uninstall it once and every time I turned on iTunes it gave me that damn popup. My blood pressure is going up just thinking about Apple, god I hate that company lol

Then why do you have an Ipod? Lol. I agree though, Itunes is garbage, they had the interface perfect a while back but they keep changing it. I wish I could help you, maybe ask someone on an apple forum/help board?

The interface has changed last year and it is now good. Seriously, I can understand why you hated it a year or two ago, I hated that new interface and it was full of bugs. It has been updated since and if you go to Apple Software Update, you can choose for it to check updates once a day/week/month or never (Modify -> Preferences). I won't comment on the rest of Apple's products but the Ipod (classic) is my favorite music player. I had the 60GB and now have the 160GB one and I can't see myself changing product anytime soon. Although they stopped making the Classic...

I have an Ipod because about 8 years ago my g/f at the time got me one for Christmas. It woks so I saw no reason to get rid of it, and get a Zune. And now since Zune was discontinued (2012 I think) and there is no other REAL competition I still have one. :D If it ain't broke, don't fix/replace it

Well I guess I will have to give it a shot again. Good to know I can change the update info. I wonder if I can DL an old version too if I don't like the new interface. 1/2 the reason I hated the obsessive update requests is I didn't WANT an update. I don't buy music from ITunes so I just need it to work with my 8 year old iPod lol
 
Yeah my wife still has her first generation Ipod touch, it doesn't really work that well so she wants a newer one but there so expensive. I remember Zune, shame that it was discontinued. Any luck finding your answer else where? Seems like it would be a simple solution.
