Hey all, im thinking of getting pedals, throttle and joystick from ebay, they are ch products and look much lik ethe usb ones out now, however they are gameport.

If i get a gameport to usb converter will they work properly or will it be a lot of hassle to get them workin?

I had no end of issues getting an old gameport joystick (Saitek X36) to work on XP. Getting a driver that supported it was almost impossible. I ended up finding a homebrew one that I was able to update to make it work.

If the hardware is the same as the current CH USB joysticks it may work but there's a good chance the old hardware is analog and the new one is digital.

I don't know how good CH is now (I know they are still pricey) but Saitek's x52 is pretty good for the money.

the set up is 99p so far for each so its a bit of a steal :p but having looked on the net you are spot on. The gameport is analogue and the new are digital i believe. Also drivers arent even current with xp i think so w7 is a no no i guess.

I think im going to keep an eye out for a used x52.

Is there any cheaper alternatives you could recommend? I had bought a logic3 pro flight 2, but that stopped working less than 5 minutes after plugging it in. And apparently thats a given with them :/

If you are looking for the full set up, browsing ebay for some relatively recent used CH, thrustmaster or saitek is probably your best bet.

If you can get away with just a joystick, I have a Saitek Cyborg Evo which has been pretty solid. It's a little light for my liking, so I need to fasten it to my desk.
