or would a gaming mouse help cause i have trouble hittin the keys and buttons on board and mouse

For a FPS, a keyboard and mouse is highly suggested. Very few people use a joystick for FPs style games.

You may find a 5 or even 7 button mouse to be useful. You can bind the keys you use most on the keyboard to the mouse, and only use the keyboard for typing and moving.
