hey guys i have an ancient maxtor IDE harddrive that i just found laying around and decided to put it into my computer. Problem is i don't know what the jumper settings should be cause the harddrive doesn't have anything on it. Anyone have any idea what Maxtor hd's jumper settings are?

you will need to know what the model of the drive is to find this out, but usually the pins closest to the IDE connector are the master ones.

go to Maxtor and put in the model number and go to the specs and you should find it there.

Well using FAT32 doesn't affect anything, you could reformat it to NTFS if you use Windows XP. It's a bit better when using XP.

There’s nothing wrong with use FAT32 it's just like saving data to a USB flash drive, floppy disk, iPod, memory card, ect.....
