I need one of my friends who already built a computer to come over and look over the comp, but he doesn't have enough time. I want to turn on my comp, i have mostly everything connected except the front panel because it was too hard (the case is gay, no manual, other strange things). what im wondering is that, are there any stupid mistakes i might have done? for instance, at first when i started building (this is my first build), after i had done the mobo and connectors and etc, a friend came over and told me that i didnt put the motherboard on those little stilt-like screws that are there so the mobo doesnt touch the side of the case. as stupid of a mistake this was, it didnt say anything about that in the mobo manual or case manual (nonexistant, lol). is tehre anythign else that i should carefully inspect before turning it on? thanks.

the case typicaly doesnt come with a manual, it really doesnt need one. All you need is the mother board manual, and you want to be sure to follow it carefuly. The mother board CAN NOT touch the case, this could fry it. So its realy important its mounted correctly. Your m/b manual should cover this as one of the first things. After mounting it, it will also tell you where to connect the wires from your cose, led pins, and pwr connectors. Make sure you actualy reading the manaul, not just looking at the pictures.

Those spacers are there for a reason! The mobo can't touch the case. Make sure that your power button is hooked up, as well as anything else. Also, make sure that your PSU is good.

i read the entire motherboard manual, and although i can see the connections on the motherboard, my case's wires are different. my case has about 6 wires, each wire being 4-10 separate little wires. for instance, in the motherboard manual, for the Front Audio, the motherboard lists 10 things: mic, ground, bias, power, front audio R, rear audio R, NC, front audio L, and rear audio L. My case only has 8 connectors on that wire, and even though they are labeled, they are labelled differently. for instance, that same wire has connectors for Speakers, although the front audio panel doesnt have connections for that, so i had to leave them out. also, on other connectors, like the front USB, the motherboard sais that 2 pins are for power and 2 are for grouind, when my case comes with 1 power and 1 ground.

i know it sounds confusing, but i honestly cant explain it any better. the thing im relying on is that if i dont connect something, it cant break. maybe my front firewire port wont work, but i can fix it later. all im worrying about is that my computer works.

for anyone who is wondering, my case:

Your m/b manual will really be your best friend in setting up your computer. You might be able to find a visual diagram on the manufactures website. The m/b should/would probably have more pins ports than actualy needed, while you case may also have more wires than your m/b supports. The main things on the case are the pwr cables, leds, and usb wires/firewire if you want them. The location for these on the m/b are all in different places, and you will just have to look at them for the correct pin placement.

understand something....i built my computer and i got a nice case. But the instructions that came with it was 2 pages and half the words were spelled incorrectly. as far as connections with little speaker wires and such, the colors are your best friend. sometimes the wires will only have two pins when the mobo book says 4. dont worry about it. red=pos black=neg. plug them in. when u get the comp running, something doesnt work, flip it. also, make sure your ide cables are all connected all the way accross....lots of pins on those cables. also a lot of help if you look real close on the mobo, a lot of pins are marked as what they are for and whether they are a pos or neg pin.... good luck

like the front USB, the motherboard sais that 2 pins are for power and 2 are for grouind, when my case comes with 1 power and 1 ground.
Thats fine. Each USB header supports up to two connectors ... if your case only has one then you wont have a need for the second set of pins

- Page23 of the manual outlines which wires goto which pins for the power/reset switch and various lights
- The bottom of page25 outlines the connects for USB headers .. since you only have one set of wires .. you can ignore the Dy-, Dy+ pins :)
