Just got the goods....

I can't uninstall by using ATI's uninstaller in All Programs, I deleted the ATI folder directly under C:, but now in Program Files, it won't let me delete, even if I turn the read only off. I WANT ATI's BUGGY CRAP OFF MY PC!!! F ATI 4 L

you dont really need to uninstall drivers.... just leave them there

if it came with an ati program, you can delete it in add and remove
EDIT: woah u posted that above post at the same time
ummm you can try searching for ati and delete anything that has to do with it...

Well, when I try uninstalling with ATI's bullcrap.... I get this

When I try to delete I get this.. Excuse me for asking, BUT the last time I was around, I WAS THE OWNER, ADMIN, and BUILDER of this PC, WHY AM I GETTING PERMISSION MSG's? I deleted the files under Program Files for 64-bit easily, now the x86 is giving me this crap.

NOT AGAIN WILL ATI SUCKER ME IN WITH ANOTHER POS, WITH BUGGY DRIVERS.

calm down intel >_> you seem on edge.
K you're in vista so to delete it, right click the folder in program files or C:, wherever you installed it. click properties. then security tab, then advanced. Go to owners click "Edit" and then click "Administrators", now click ok and then ok on the properties window to close it. AFTER that, right click the folder again, click properties, then security tab and this time click 'Edit'. for SYSTEM and your username, simply check the 'Full Control' Box under allow. If there are a lot of files within it'll take a second er two to change the permissions. Then you can delete the folder without any problems or restrictions =D

Also, this seriously isn't ATI's fault, don't be so foolish and easily tempered >_>

Calm down dude, this isn't ATI's fault, it is yours. Go into add/remove programs and use that to uninstall the drivers. Since you manually deleted the ATI folder it probably won't work, but all the blame can go on yourself for deleting an entire folder.

Gratz on the new card btw.

The lovely Permissions msg is still there!!! WTF!? Of course, VISTA I WANT FULL CONTROL, IT'S MY FRIGGIN COMPUTER!!! MICROSOFT!? Anything else I can do....

GUYS, I really need some help here, I want the Catalyst Control Center off my computer, so I can be comfortable in playing with my new toy. I am like a kid before Christmas here... Why does Vista do this? If it wasn't for all of the retards that use Windows, "DUH, I think I delete my Windows files, they take up too much space, DURR." WHY!?

Plz and TY's Sorry, I am being a bit pushy, I WANT TO USE MY NEW CARD.... I still hate ATI, the card broke down once, that was its first and LAST time.

...well, I have a feeling it's gonna let you delete it if your in safemode. Usually when you get those errors the files are still in use. If you too lazy to go to safemode look through your processes and see if you can find any of the related files.

>_> if you really must have it gone, there's a freeware called deleteonnextboot or something and it does what it says assuredly.

How do I get into safe mode in Vista? Is it different, EVERYTHING ELSE IS, Including the inability to control your own PC. I looked through the processes and ended anything ATI and/or Catalyst.

It's actually the exact same way as in XP...

And you can turn off user account control, its much nicer.

if you still can't delete the folder after disabling the processes, try deleting the individual files inside the folder. The ones that dont delete are the ones being used, then you can easily find it in task manager and end the tasks.

Gone with Safe Mode....

Now to install the drivers from Nvidia, does Windows beep when shutting down from Safe Mode. Or squeak, whatever it does, I heard a high pitch beep when it shut down out of safe mode. I am calmer now, sorry to have 'bit anyone's head off', I just like for things to not give me difficulty with crap like this, as for the ATI card, it's gonna be serving a life's sentence in the junk closet, until a death at the landfill.

Thanks a million

I did turn UAC off, I still have Security Center wanting me to turn it on. The last time I heard, I am boss of this computer, so it should have no objections to what I set, I don't care what Microsoft THINKS is safer. I KNOW what is better on time and safety for MY PC.

Thanks again guys

Security center will always want you to turn it on. You can disable the icon somehow, either by right clicking on the icon on by double clicking it and going through the options.
