iv built 3 computers already, and i decided to build my freinds family one, and it was working great! but now i wont turn on, i checked if the power button was correctly connected to the mobo, it is, also the computer like randomly shut off by itself like 2 times last night and i could only get it to turn on for like 1 sec then i would here a quick beep and it would turn off, i remedyed this by switching the red thing on the PS to 230 and then back to 115, but now it wont turn on at all! i tried everything and i need help!!!

try replacing your psu, if you have a spare or you can use yours to plug, test and try. it may be that your psu's doa or it just doesnt have enough power.

oh man. you used asrock as a mobo? there are quite a few issues with that company so you might want to read a few of the reviews, or maybe even look if the company has a forum. If it's happening to you, then it's most likely happening to someone else. psu's that come with case's arnt all that great either. whats your setup?

okay, soory for the bad grammer but i have his whole family breathing down my neck and im nervous, i dont blame them cause they pooored money ontp this thing and trusted me and now they think its my fall, there dads like "why couldnt we just get a cheap HP from best buy?! i told you he couldnt do it" :(

but anyway, here it is

CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819103633

GFX card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814127201

Ideas.

First unplug all components from the PSU except the Mobo. Leave the HD and CD drives unplugged. See if it will try to post. If so plug back in the HD then the CD drive last. When changing anything with what is plugged in or any setting on the PSU make sure it is NOT plugged in as some cheaper PSU's can "crowbar" and have to have no load and be powered on to reset.

If that doesnt work try the following.

1. I agree with checking it with a different PSU. Use yours if you need to.

2. If that doesnt work try unseating the Ram and then trying.

3. Try a different power strip and/or different power outlet.

4. Reseat the mobo. It could be grounding out.

5. RMA the PSU or buy a new one. May have to contact the company so you can keep the case.

6. Explain to the family that you WILL get it working and it helps if they try to stay calm. If it is the PSU and yours works just maybe order them a cheap one off newegg for thier trouble (if you can afford it). Good Luck.

Try your PSU before you RMA it. I would suggest.

you might also consider downloading the lastest bios for your mobo. BUT MAKE SURE IT'S THE RIGHT ONE! very important.

That mobo is a piece of crap. It's not surprising at all that you are having issues with it. Put a decent one in and see what happens. You might see a world of difference.

there already pissed at me enough, im not gonna make em spend more money

I guess you could always exlpain how they're getting a WAY better computer and saving money. You're also doing this for free and to help out. So them being pissed at you really does nothing at all. Yes I know hard to imagine but there's no sense in them making the situation harder. You could just ask them to be patient as nothing happens INSTANTLY. Just a thought. Good luck. Worst case return all the shit and give them the address to Best Buy and say fine be stupid! :P
