Just want to double check this would work...

Hi, I asked for advice recently on hardware to buy for building a new PC from my old one. The advice I received was very helpful, but since I'm about to invest around £300 into these items, I wanted to make sure that it would actually work.

The computer I've got currently is an Acer Aspire XC-605 (I think it's this: http://www.pcnation.co.uk/product.aspx?id=20080&af=11). It has an Intel i5-4440 processor, 8GB of RAM, 2TB and an Intel HD Graphics 4600 built into the CPU.

I want to upgrade the graphics card, but in order to do this I'll need to get a new case, motherboard and power supply. The video card I want is this: uk.pcpartpicker.com/part/gigabyte-video-card-gvn960ixoc2gd

I've been recommended the following items, but I would like it if someone could verify that these would work in conjunction with my current hardware:

Power Supply: XFX Core Edition PRO450W V2 (http://www.ballicom.co.uk/p1450sx2b...o450w-v2--power-supply--450-watt.p868436.html)

Motherboard: ASRock H97M PRO4 Micro-ATX (http://www.scan.co.uk/products/asro...-(x16)-quad-crossfirex-vga-dvi-hdmi-micro-atx)

Case: CiT Vanquish Gaming Black Midi Tower Case (http://www.cclonline.com/product/15...66/?siteID=8BacdVP0GFs-OLusU0s6f5svpr4j.3XutA)

As I said before, I'd be grateful if someone verified whether or not the hardware would all be supported by each other.

Do yourself a favor and get either a 500 watt or even a 550 watt power supply so you can upgrade video card later if need be. The gtx 970 would need a 500 watt power supply.

You do realize that you won't be able to reuse the same copy of windows you have on your acer hard drive right?

Okay, thanks for the advice with the power supply.

Yeah, I know that, but I can get Windows free, that's fine.
EDIT: It's not illegal, don't judge me :) I go to a 'Microsoft Academy' school or something, so we get free Microsoft stuff. It's basically a PR stunt.

Maybe an SSD would be a good edition? John can correct me, but I think a 120gb SSD would boost your PC quite a bit and you can generally pick one up for $50-$75. (Around 50 pounds I believe).

Yeah, that sounds like a pretty good idea. Probably not now, but that's definitely a thing to consider in the future.

Any other advice? :)

As long as you go with what John said with the PSU, you should be fine. Maybe even a 650W PSU would be better, so you can upgrade even further in the future (cpu, ram etc).

Okay, thanks.
I've found two 650W PSUs but one of them is £25 ($39) whilst the other was £64 (100). Any advice on which to go for?
£25 one: http://www.scan.co.uk/products/650w...-gC3sDY8MxAALB7UBjyt4fHrxcL-TvHEX8aAufe8P8HAQ

£64 one: http://www.ebuyer.com/584149-cooler...F8P8HAQ&reevoo_page=2#reevoo_embedded_reviews

Upgrading cpu and ram is negligible compared to upgrading a video card.
I know, I was saying because he's getting a GTX 960 will last him for quite a while, so the CPU would be the next best thing, don't you think? Correct me if im wrong :)

The cit one is garbage. Even a GTX 980 only requires a 520 watt power supply. 550 watts to 600 watts is fine.

But still power draw on a new cpu would be minimal. You can go here and see what wattage is needed for certain video cards.

Take in consideration that this is for the whole system, not just the video card.

You don't have to stay with XFX though. If you get a 650 watt power supply that would make you good up to even a single Titan, which are pretty expensive. Its your call though.
