Just wondering about compatibility

Hey


im in the market for a new video/graphics card.


i did a few things to my last computer, well its time i do the first upgrade to this one.


The computer is a Gateway GT4023E computer

running 1.62gb of ram right now.


was just wondering if the car dim looking at will work with my computer.
Just want to make sure before i drop the $300 bones for it.

Are you sure that's the correct model number for your gateway?
Both google and the gateway site draw a blank on it

Regardless of the model, at the very least you're going to want/need to upgrade your PSU before dropping that beast in there ( That's IF your Motherboard has the right graphics slot)

Well, it looks like it will physically fit ( that mobo has a PCI-Express slot..)

I like eVGA over XFX, We've got a bunch of eVGA cards here and they all work well.... I've only had one XFX card and it was a POS ( That's not to say they all are, but they had their chance LOL)

but ugh.. my power supply...is small

so i pretty much need something bigger


point something out to mE?

or throw a couple at me?
im not quite sure what would suite my needs.
im not gonna be doing any heavy modding.
so im sure i wont need anything too big.

yea at first i was looking at 300-400W power supplys. then i was browsing on here and found out that a 8600+ graphics/video card needs a 500-500+ watt power supply.

so then i went bigger lol

A 8800GT sucks as much as a 8600. And the 8600 sucks very little.

If your looking at a high end card, I wouldn't go under 500w

Most highend cards requires no less that 450w .. I beleive
