K2 450 & PIII 450 usages

I need a computer for business / engineering and music / gaming.

This is the hardware I have:
AMD K-2 450 MHZ
PentiumIII 450MHZ
128 pc100 RAM (3)
Western Digi 40 GB
Western Digi 10 GB
ATI 8mb Graphics
ATI 32mb Radeon

This is the software I have:
Winamp - WinMX - Nero
Starcraft - Quake II

Win98SE - Win XP - Office XP
AutoCad - MS VB6 - Mathcad
Accounting & Biz Programs

What is your opinion on this best two setups?

The AMD and the Radeon should probably be paired together for gaming, and the WD40 for music storage...
That would leave the PIII and the ATI 8mb and the 10gb hardrive...

How should I allocate the RAM? I have 3 sticks.

Also, what OS should I run for each setup?

I appreciate your opinion!

Well for all i ntents and purposes youve only got one viable machine so you're prolly best off mushing all the parts into one of them :)

Yeah put it all in one with the AMD. It'll do anything PIII with a 10 gig hard drive will do and you can put all your RAM in one machine.

Praetor - So you're saying that the K-2 450 will run faster than the PIII 450?

it won't physically run faster (mhz #), but AMD will use the 450mhz more efficiently than the Intel would. Make sure you have a decent cooler/fan on it though.....those run HOT! lol im running one and it heats up alot.

Ive not said jack about either system. Between the two, the P3 will win almost handsdown, the K6 line of chips were horrible for efficiency and really didnt match up with their P3 counteparts

man...i traded my sister (P3 600mhz 512k) for my AMD (K6-2 450mhz) and the AMD has issues!!! It takes forever to load and even longer to start apps up. I think it may be overheating (burned finger on NB). I change my vote to the P3, i believe it would still outperform the AMD at same mhz...and it runs alot cooler.

Thats because the K6s were really REALLY overinflated and the performance didnt match the P3s by any definition (even after scaling the price)

Oh hell yeah :D
