My friend is building a new system and got a neo-4 and and an AMD dual core. he is using 2x512 OCZ memory and a 10,000 rpm raptor from his old system. He hooked it up and cant even get to bios, just a series of beeps(that is diagnosed as memory problem by msi). the memory worked fine in Intel system, but now....nothing. plz help if u can.

Take it out and just put in a single stick at a time in each memory slot, see if it will boot. You may also want to stick it in the old system and run it through a single pass of memtest86 (www.memtest86.com).

Is the old memory DDR2, If it is then the new AMD system can't use it. ;)

yea, we tested the memory last night, and it is in fact functioning 100%. i tested all the slots with each stick by itself, and nothing. ive heard of this board being picky with ram, so im beginning to believe that it is just not compatible with my ram... the board comes with a 4 led diagnostic panel, and it gave me a memor failure/improper installation code, so it appears to definately be a memory issue.

well, the ocz memory works perfectly in my friends identical mobo, so i will try switching mine with his corsair, and see if i can get my pc up and running. maybe then i can switch the memory back to the ocz if all goes well. as far as i can see, this board is very picky with memory, and i believe the board is just fine, but just cant detect this particular memory without all the drivers updated and what not... anyone else had this issue with the k8n neo4?

bump. no one has any ideas.... cmon. this has not happened? i cant even get msi on the phone or via email, so i figured at least ONE person here has had a similar problem... wtf??

1. Assemble the system in 'troubleshoot mode' (i.e., CPU, mobo, power, video, one stick of ram, keyboard, nothing else). Do you see anything on the screen? If yes, what does the POST identify the processor as?
2. Update to the latest BIOS ... this is needed because the X2 uses a newer memory controller then older (i.e., Clawhammer/Winchester/Newcastle) cores
3. Now what does the POST identify your CPU as? If it says Athlon64 X2-<whatever> then go ahead, power down and assemble the rest of the machine

well, it still beeps :\ looks like that rma # will be the problem solver... hopefully. i guess its just bad memory slots on the board or something else with the board...? thanks for the help though. ya, kregs a friend and i was at his house :)
