KDE and GNOME running simultaneously on Mandriva 10.1

O.k. this is weird. Whenever I start KDE I get GNOME desktop icons and the background that I put on gnome. I have transparent panels and I can see my KDE background under it. I'm running compiz fusion and when I rotate the cube I can see my KDE desktop Icons. It's sorta like GNOME is running on top of KDE and it's pretty annoying.

Here are a couple screen shots hopefully they will explain whats going on better than I can.

Here is a second Image and you can see my KDE desktop icons on the right.

My bad about the background, but you know you like it.

by default you are running KDE, why not simply remove gnome ? not that you use it anyways.
mainly everything on your screen in KDE, the taskbar, all the icons except "thrash (the right one),computer and Home"

I was thinking about removing Gnome, but I use Gnome apps on Kde. Can I remove the Gnome-base and still be able to run Gnome apps in Kde?

Yeah thats odd. That happened to me when i ran another xserver and it ran in the root window (aka the background). Does compiz come preinstalled on madriva? If not the only thing i can think of is that when you created a startup file for compiz you might have accidently told it to launch gnome as well causing it to run in the -root window.
